We explored the northern part to see the nature side of Taipei and also went on some souvenir shopping in one of Taipei's largest and famous night market.
One of Taipei's national park is the Yangmingshan National Park.

Weather was cool when we visited. Unfortunately, I was not able to explore it thoroughly because my mom did not want to walk any further. So instead, we just admired the cherry blossoms, apricots, and lavenders along the park. 😜

If you are up for a hike then you will surely enjoy this place. There are other scenic spots in the area which you can explore with just more effort because again - you have to hike. 😏
HOW TO GET THERE: Take the train from the red line and get off at Beitou Station. From the Beitou Station, take the S9 bus going to Yangmingshan National Park. Or ask the personnel in the information booth. They will surely be glad to help you.
We went back to Beitou Station and took the train going to Xinbeitou. Trains bound for Xinbeitou are themed and smaller than the regular trains in the metro.

Xinbeitou has a lot of hot springs and resorts that are famous to both local and foreign tourist. The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is also located here as well as the Beitou Library. You'll also see small streams along the road.

HOW TO GET THERE: Easy. From the Beitou Station, take the train and hop in to Xinbeitou.
To cap our day, our last stop is the Shilin Night Market. Considered as the most famous night market in Taipei. If you are looking for some traditional goodies, this is the place for it. There are a variety of food, clothes, and souvenirs in this place and they open at 4'o clock in the afternoon.

We only bought some souvenirs here. We were looking for ref magnets - the usual pasalubong (souvenir) and we asked some locals where we can buy these items. Locals here are not so fluent in English but despite of not understanding what we were asking, one woman even got out of her stall to look for another local who can understand and speak English just to help us. We really appreciated it, locals are friendly and helpful. 💗

HOW TO GET THERE: Since there is also a station in the red line called Shilin, we thought it's the right station to get off to be able to go to Shilin Night Market. You can still do so but you will have to walk for at least 10 minutes to get to the famous night market. Easiest way would be to hop off in Jiantan Station instead. From there, it's a shorter walk to the Shilin Night Market. 😉
